Why do we need Jan Lokpal?
A. Non-independence : Most of our agencies like CBI, state vigilance departments, internal vigilance wings of various departments, Anti-corruption Branch of state police etc are not independent. In many cases, they have to report to the same people who are either themselves accused or are likely to be influenced by the accused
B. Powerless: Some bodies like CVC or Lokayuktas are independent, but they do not have any powers. They have been made advisory bodies
C. Multiplicity: Governments have deliberately created plethora of anti-corruption agencies and given them fractured mandates
D. Non-Transparent : Presently, there isn’t any separate and effective mechanism to check if the staff of these anti-corruption agencies turns corrupt.

E. Deficiencies in Anti-Corruption Laws which end up protecting the corrupt.

As this movement moves forward, 1)govt will use govt officials to go for strike, we must motivate people to prepare for this. we must have parallel system to tackel this problem 2) since its a peoples movement and not under some fixed banner govt will stratch it longer as people at large could not sustain longer demonstration. 3) some PPTs should be prepared to show the mass grievances people are facing with govt body, thisnis for the govt officials, to hammer their brain, at least some will start filling they are doing bad. 4) such ppts should be advertised first and attendance should aso be taken. 5) two banners i)work accountability ii) local IAC members list n phone nos should be displayed on all major govt offices.

ReplyDeleteI still remember when ANNA Ji started their Movement last Year, People used to ask what is JAN LOKPAL. Will it help to remove corruption? What is there in this which can help us? Are you sure it Will help?
